Sharing the seasons of our lives is the core of growing together as a community. At Temple Beth Sholom of the East Valley, we mark these significant times in many different ways. Baby-naming ceremonies welcome our youngest new members into the community. Anniversaries and birthdays are often celebrated with a family-sponsored oneg or kiddush. Weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs are all occasions to come together in joy.
The cycles of life also include difficult times. Inevitably members fall ill, or pass on, and as a community we come together to give our support and express our sympathies and help each other to heal through difficult times.
As a community we also experience together the cycles of the weeks, months, and year. We enjoy learning about and reviving traditional Jewish celebrations that highlight the cycles of our spiritual lives, such as the camaraderie of Havdalah celebrated together under a starry sky, marking Rosh Chodesh during worship services, or delighting in a joys of eating in the community Sukkah. |
